Lee Leighton was born in Victoria, BC to Percival Robert & Laura (Lee) Leighton. One of three children, Lee’s father served in World War I in Canada as a Lieutenant. Upon leaving the service, Mr. Leighton moved his family to Victoria and took up the practice of law as a Barrister.


Two of the Leighton boys enlisted during World War II. Lee and his brother Robert both served overseas - Lee as a Sgt. in the Royal Canadian Artillery and Robert as a Flt. Sgt. With the RCAF 404 Squadron. Both gave their lives in service of their country.


At the time of his enlistment, Lee was a Clerk with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Keremeos, BC


Lee Leighton died in December of 1943 from the result of a mortar bomb explosion.
