William Christie immigrated to Canada with his parents aboard the “Siberian” in 19074 . Landing in Halifax, they travelled across Canada to settle in Vancouver where his father is listed as a dairyman5. William’s sister Catherine was born in 1909.


In 1914, William is listed as a farmer in Keremeos6 along with his father. William enlisted with the 54th Battelion (BC Regiment) in October of 1915. Shortly after his enlistment his family moved back to Mission City (Vancouver).


William was killed in action September 1918 in France.

…”we used to have some pretty good times back behind the trenches with real concerts, ball games, etc. But now the weather does not permit those and it generally keeps us busy getting our stuff dried up and cleaned up while out. Lately we have not been doing much real fighting, merely holding our line of trenches. From where we are now we get a good view of the German lines as they are on a hillside, and get great satisfaction out of watching our artillery doing the work”…
