Born Isadore Squakin in Penticton, Glen Douglas moved to Washington State and volunteered to serve the US Army during World War II as a paratrooper (a screaming eagle). As he was underage, his father had him discharged where he returned to California and promptly signed up again. He continued to serve thru the Korean war and into the Vietnam war during which time he was awarded 4 Silver Stars for “conspicuous gallantry in action”; 4 Bronze Stars for “heroic service”; and 8 Purple Hearts for “wounded in action”.
