Born to parents George & Elizabeth Armstrong, Cargill started life in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba where his Father was a grain Elevator Inspector3. The only son amongst five daughters, Cargill enlisted with the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles in December of 1914.


Amongst the first of the Keremeos Boys to enter, he served in France and was discharged in June of 1919 at Calgary, AB.


Shortly after his discharge he married Eunice O’Grady3 and they started their married life in Keremeos, BC. Cargill & Eunice had two children, Elizabeth and George both born in Keremeos.


Cargill died in Penticton in 1973.
