Daniel McCurdy was born in the Similkameen Valley. He lists himself as a rancher at the time of his enlistment in January 1916 but had previously been the manager at a general store in Princeton2.

He followed his two brothers, Bob and Sam who enlisted in 1914 and 1915 respectively. Daniel was killed overseas and posthumously awarded the Military Medal.

The Keremeos Cenotaph has Daniel listed as D.J. McCurdy; plans are afoot to correct the error to D.G. McCurdy.
